Slideatron was an innovative and immersive 18m high LED-lit 'Christmas tree' slide installation built from used Layher scaffolding. On the hour, every hour, the tree burst into 'rave mode' set to a bespoke Christmas backing track.
Over five weeks last Christmas, at least 17,000 visitors enjoyed fantastic views of the area from the open-air viewing platform, before being propelled through a 20m-long thrill slide at the site's first ever free festive activation. Quintain, who commissioned Slideatron, worked closely with the local community, reserving group slots for nearby students and workers, while we ensured stakeholders such as the nearby London Designer Outlet, SSE and stadium were all included to benefit from what turned out to be one of London's major Christmas activations.
The installation received extensive media coverage from over 50 titles and reached more than 10m social media users. As well as adding essential value to the area during the seasonal period, Slideatron was also intended as a metaphor for Wembley Park's emerging reputation as an exciting destination in its own right: bold, original and innovative. The installation attracted attention from overseas, and we're now handling enquiries for similar activations from international commissioners.
